Ex-Meta and Slack Engineers Secure $15M to Launch Deal GPS Platform Centralize

The San Francisco-based startup, founded by ex-Meta engineer Rachit Kataria (CEO) and ex-Slack engineer William Wang (CTO), is building a real-time map of stakeholder relationships for enterprise sales teams. Total capital raised since the 2023 founding: $19 million, including a prior $4 million seed led by Salesforce Ventures.

The thesis

Kataria traces Centralize to one operational failure at a previous startup. A multi-hundred-thousand-dollar enterprise account nearly churned after two weeks of engineering effort on a customer-requested fix. The post-mortem surfaced the real cause: the original decision-maker had left. The replacement had shifted the deal context. Nobody tracked it. Centralize exists to remove that failure mode.

The product is positioned as a "deal GPS," a visual multiplayer surface built on automated org charts. AI agents parse first-party data — call recordings, emails, calendar events, web sources — to continuously reconstruct the relationship map across a target account. The wedge is "multi-threading": identifying and engaging every stakeholder from procurement through legal to the C-suite. Centralize shipped its primary product in December 2024 after graduating Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch.

The mechanics

Three numbers anchor the round:

  • $19M deployed. $4M seed (Salesforce Ventures lead) plus $15M Series A (NEA lead).
  • Zero to 250M MAU in one year. Kataria's prior scale credential: founding engineer on Facebook Shops during the 2020 e-commerce push.
  • Slack Huddles, v1. Wang built the initial product alongside Cal Henderson, Noah Weiss, and Stewart Butterfield, then led engineering and product at Slack.

Series A participants beyond NEA: Salesforce Ventures, Y Combinator, 20 Sales, Ritual Capital, Adverb Ventures. Angel check: Stewart Butterfield (former Slack co-founder) and Scott Woody, founder and CEO of Metronome. Strategic capital is fully aligned with the thesis.

What to watch

Two data points will determine the Series B. First, retention curves on the December 2024 cohort — roughly eight months of revenue signal existed before the Series A closed. Second, map accuracy at scale. The relationship layer depends entirely on ingestion quality from first-party systems. If agents drift on stakeholder identity or org-chart reconstruction, the moat collapses into a CRM overlay. At $19M deployed, Centralize has a finite runway to prove expansion before the next round forces pricing scrutiny and valuation discipline.

Verdict: credible founders, credible lead, credible thesis. The bet is execution on data plumbing, not on vision.
